This time tomorrow, I’ll be on a plane and the indecision about continuing this project, will have to yield to the work at hand. Eighteen years I’ve been working on this. It’s crazy to keep going, but like any work, until its right, its wrong. So back I go.

In two weeks a new direction photographing the people will be strengthened. The original ideas and research will start to flow back in, and the judgements of the art world and the culture at large, will have a tougher time making their case. At present they aren’t completely wrong. It is a freak fest, but like any city, you have to know where to look. It’s a legitimate art movement. Of the moment.  And, as we see in politics, the moment continues. The artists that are still working, know that. That’s all you can do. It’s a gift: To both have such a strong world community that attends this event (where’d all the Kiwi’s come from?) and a body of work with a potential deep enough to still be calling you to work.
