The one thing that I always loved about the movie Belly was director Hype Williams’ trademark visual style. And while the story itself failed to offer much the camera always held me. The high contrasts in the living room scenes in Tommy Bundy’s house (and most scenes with Taral Hicks) were the most discernible for me. With an all-black everything furniture and carpet layout contrasting with pristine white walls the artwork that accented the walls were some of the most beautiful capturings of blackness I’ve ever seen. I never found out who the artist was responsible for those art works until I ran across them on Kanye’s blog.
