Holger Keifel moved to New York City in 1993,
where he lives and works.

In 2002, Holger Keifel began his most ambitious project, The Face of Boxing (also a book with the same title published in 2010 with the text by Thomas Hauser), a series of over 350 portraits, ranging from trainers, managers and cutmen to such superstars as Evander Holyfield, Bernard Hopkins, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Oscar De La Hoya. His work has been exhibited widely, amongst many exhibitions are a 2004 solo show, Boxers, at The Butler Museum of Contemporary Art, and a 2002 solo show, WTC Rescue Workers, at The Butler Institute of American Art, both in Ohio. Keifel is a German-born photographer who moved to New York City in 1993, where he lives and works. His work has been published in The New York Times Magazine, Der Spiegel, ZeitWissen, The Observer Sport Monthly, Black+White Magazine, American Photography and many others.
