Like a lot of photographers, I started photography when my son was born 10 years ago. I slowly evolved as a photographer throughout this time. Prior to photography I was studying for a Ph.d in Women’s War Writing – I also hold an M.A in Holocaust Studies. Although it may seem irrelevant to what I am doing now, I can see that my fascination for memory in art, literature, photography came from these studies. My work is saturated with childhood memories, sometimes consciously placed, sometimes not.
My photography is very personal. I live in a small rural town in the wilds of Northern England with my family. I work with large format cameras and lately I am working with the wet plate collodion process, which can be seen on my website.
