While studying to be a commercial photographer, I was first introduced to the medium of black and white. While the others moved on to more colourful things, I seemed to stay behind trapped in the simplicity of the monochrome image.
I duly discovered the works of figures like Salgado and Koudelka, and knew even then what I wanted to do. Such beautiful images. Even though often depicting pain and suffering, also showing the ultimate strength of the human spirit.

I decided in my humble way I wanted to try and depict the beauty of this world through my own eyes, those that see only black and white.

Though I have since moved on, those decisions still hold true. In my travels around Africa, I try to depict the beauty of my continent and its peoples. Those images are presented in the only way I know, rich, beautiful black and white prints.
