Kurt Hutton, born Kurt Hubschmann (1893-1960), was a German-born photographer who pioneered photojournalism in England.
Hutton was a staff photographer for the revolutionary pictorial weekly news magazine, Picture Post, from 1940 until 1957. His incredible body of work contributed to the Hulton Picture Library (Sir Edward Hulton was the owner of Picture Post), and this library became the first of its kind to be catalogued by a series of keywords and classifications.
In 1996 the Hulton Archive was bought for ?8.6m by Getty Images, whereby it was digitised and is still available to view now.
