Born 1961, London. David gained a First Class BA (Hons) in Graphic Design from Camberwell School of Art, London. However, he was more suited to photography and spent the last two thirds of the degree course, teaching himself photography. On leaving the university he spent a year part time with Shell Oil, before joining Reuter News Pictures in London as a photographer for three years. He also worked for AP, AFP and all major British national newspapers and a great many US and foreign newspapers. He then worked in Asia for nine months as a photo journalist. News photography is the best education to think pictures naturally and understand their narrative role instinctively.
