“When we contemplate the whole globe as one great dew drop, striped and dotted with continents and islands, flying through space with other stars all singing and shining together as one, the whole universe appears as an infinite storm of beauty.”- John Muir
David Richter is a completely self-taught landscape and nature photographer based in Dresden, Germany; who grew up in a remote area in Germany’s Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains), in proximity to endless forests and wide mountain ranges. His focus has always been nature, whether it’s snowy mountains or deep forests with small creeks flowing over moss-covered rocks. In his childhood, David was fortunate to spend some quality time outdoors, exploring and taking in the fleeting beauty of the moment but it was not until some years ago that he realized, he can take some of those adventures home, as life-long memories; with a simple click of the shutter.
The eager traveler and explorer soon found himself on a journey to capture the light at its peak. His love for the outdoors and wilderness has taken him around the globe to some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Sierra Nevada of California, the Desert Southwest and the Swiss Alps. David’s style of photography can be described as unmistakable, true and bold, with a sometimes painting-like quality to his images.
He seeks the ephemeral moment of daybreak or dusk, where the play of light and shadow is less harsh; and happily endures Nature’s forces for a chance to find a break in the storm, providing unique potential for rare captures of some of the most amazing light and an emotion-evoking viewing pleasure.
